There are four levels of questions: knowledge (16%), understanding (24%), application (40%), and higher ability (20%). There are 12 questions and 37 items in classes 4 and 5. The curriculum for mathematics is also based on a specification grid. There are 8 items with 8 marks for knowledge questions, 10 items with 12 marks for understanding, 13 items with 20 marks for application, and 6 items with 10 marks for higher ability.
